English Simpal Recipes

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • Whole wheat flour – 1 cup

  • Salt – to taste

  • Oil – 1 tsp

  • Water – to knead

For the Stuffing:

  • Gram flour (besan) – ½ cup

  • Cumin seeds – ½ tsp

  • Asafoetida (hing) – a pinch

  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp

  • Red chili powder – ½ tsp

  • Salt – to taste

  • Sugar – ½ tsp (optional)

  • Fresh coriander – chopped (optional)

  • Oil – 1 tbsp


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Prepare the Dough:

  • Mix wheat flour, salt, and oil.

  • Add water English Simpal Recipes gradually and knead a soft dough.

  • Cover and let it rest for 15–20 minutes.

2. Make the Stuffing:

  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan.

  • Add cumin seeds and hing.

  • Add gram flour and roast on low flame until it turns golden and aromatic (about 5–7 minutes).

  • Add turmeric, chili English Simpal Recipes powder, salt, sugar, and coriander.

  • Mix well and allow the mixture to cool.

3. Assemble the Poli:

  • Take a small ball of dough and roll it slightly.

  • Place 1–2 spoons of the besan filling in the center.

  • Roll it into a round flatbread (like roti).

  • Cook on a hot tawa (griddle), applying a little oil or ghee on both sides, until golden brown.
