 Here’s a simple Sattu Kachori recipe in English, perfect for a delicious snack! Sattu (roasted gram flour) is a popular ingredient, especially in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and other North Indian English Simpal Recipes regions. It is filled with flavorful spices and stuffed in a crisp kachori.

Sattu Kachori Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Dough:
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (atta)

  • 2 tbsp semolina (sooji)

  • 2 tbsp oil or ghee

  • 1/2 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)

  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)

  • Water (as needed to knead the dough)

For the Filling:
  • 1 cup sattu flour (roasted gram flour)

  • 1 tbsp cumin powder (jeera powder)

  • 1 tbsp coriander powder (dhania powder)

  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder (optional)

  • 1 tbsp ginger, finely chopped or grated

  • 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped

  • 1 tbsp fresh coriander leaves, chopped

  • 1-2 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp garam masala

  • Salt, to taste

  • 1-2 tbsp oil (for cooking the filling)

For Frying:
  • Oil (for deep frying)


Instructions:

1. Prepare the Dough:

  • In a mixing bowl, add whole Hindi Simpal Recipes wheat flour, semolina, carom seeds, salt, and oil or ghee.

  • Mix well and gradually add water to knead a smooth and firm dough.

  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20-30 minutes.

2. Prepare the Filling:

  • Heat a little oil in a pan and add chopped ginger and green chilies. Sauté for a minute.

  • Add sattu flour and roast it lightly on low heat for 2-3 minutes. Make sure it doesn’t burn.

  • Remove the pan from heat and add cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masala, salt, and lemon juice.

  • Add chopped coriander leaves and mix everything well. The filling should have a slightly crumbly texture but should stick together when pressed.

3. Shape the Kachoris:

  • Divide the dough into small equal-sized balls (about 10-12).

  • Roll each ball into a small flat circle (about 3-4 inches in diameter) using a rolling pin.

  • Place a generous amount of sattu filling in the center of the dough circle.

  • Carefully fold the edges to seal the filling inside, pinching it together.

  • Gently flatten the filled dough ball with your palms to form a small round kachori.

4. Fry the Kachoris:

  • Heat oil in a deep Marathi Simpale Recipes frying pan or kadhai on medium heat.

  • Once the oil is hot, gently slide in the kachoris, one at a time. Fry on medium heat, turning occasionally, until they puff up and turn golden brown and crisp on all sides.

  • Remove the kachoris with a slotted spoon and drain excess oil on paper towels.

5. Serve:

  • Serve sattu kachoris hot with tamarind chutney or green chutney.
