English Simpal Recipes

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of bread (white or brown)

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds

  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds

  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  • 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped (optional)

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 1/2 cup mixed vegetables (carrot, peas, beans, etc.)

  • 1/4 tsp garam masala (optional)

  • Salt to taste

  • A pinch of sugar (optional)

  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Bread:
    Tear the bread into small pieces or cut them into cubes. Set aside.

  2. Heat the Oil:
    In a pan or skillet, heat 2 tbsp of oil over medium heat.

  3. Tempering:
    Add 1/2 tsp 
    Hindi Simpal Recipes mustard seeds and 1/2 tsp cumin seeds to the hot oil. Let them splutter for a few seconds.

  4. Add Vegetables and Spices:
    Add chopped onions and green chilies (if using). Sauté until the onions become translucent.
    Now, add the mixed vegetables and sauté for 2-3 minutes. You can use frozen mixed vegetables for convenience.

  5. Add Turmeric and Garam Masala:
    Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and 1/4 tsp garam masala (optional). Stir everything together.

  6. Add Bread Pieces:
    Add the torn bread pieces into the pan and mix well with the vegetables. Stir until the bread is coated with the spices and veggies.

  7. Seasoning:
    Add salt to taste and a pinch of sugar (optional) to balance the flavors.

  8. Cook the Upma:
    Cook everything 
    Marathi Simpale Recipes together for 2-3 minutes, allowing the bread to soak up the flavors and get slightly crispy.

  9. Garnish and Serve:
    Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves and squeeze some lemon juice on top for a tangy flavor.
