Ingredients:
- Fresh spinach leaves: 2 cups, washed and dried
- Besan (gram flour): 1 cup
- Rice flour: 2 tablespoons English Simpal Recipes (for extra crispiness, optional)
- Onion: 1 medium, finely chopped
- Green chilies: 2, finely chopped
- Ginger: 1 teaspoon, grated
- Cumin seeds: 1 teaspoon
- Coriander seeds: 1 teaspoon
- Red chili powder: 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder: 1/2 teaspoon
- Carom seeds (ajwain): 1/2 teaspoon
- Baking soda: 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt: to taste
- Water: as needed
- Oil: for deep frying
Instructions:
Prepare the Spinach:
- Wash the spinach leaves thoroughly and pat them dry with a clean towel. Tear the Hindi Simpal Recipes leaves into smaller pieces if they are large.
Prepare the Batter:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the besan (gram flour), rice flour (if using), cumin seeds, coriander seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, carom seeds, and baking soda.
- Add the finely chopped onions, green chilies, and grated ginger to the bowl.
- Gradually add water, a little at a time, and mix to form a thick batter. The batter should coat the spinach leaves well but should not be too runny.
Mix the Spinach:
- Add the spinach leaves to the batter and mix well, ensuring that each leaf is coated with the batter.
Heat the Oil:
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan or kadai over medium heat. To check if the oil is hot enough, drop a small amount of batter into the oil; it should rise to the surface quickly.
Fry the Pakoras:
- Carefully drop spoonfuls of the batter-coated spinach into the hot oil. Do not Marathi Simpale Recipes overcrowd the pan; fry in batches if necessary.
- Fry the pakoras until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the pakoras from the oil and drain them on paper towels.
Serve:
- Serve the palak pakoras hot with mint chutney or tamarind chutney.
Tips:
- Adjust the amount of green chilies and red chili powder according to your spice preference.
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of garam masala or chaat masala to the batter.
