English Simpal Recipes |
Ingredients:
- 1 cup semiya English Simpal Recipes (vermicelli)
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon urad dal (split black gram)
- 1 teaspoon chana dal (split chickpeas)
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1-2 green chilies, chopped
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 small carrot, grated
- 1/4 cup peas (fresh or frozen)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
Roast Semiya:
- Heat a pan over Hindi Simpal Recipes medium heat.
- Add the semiya and roast it, stirring continuously until it turns golden brown. Remove and set aside.
Prepare the Tempering:
- In the same pan, add oil and heat it.
- Add mustard seeds. Once they start to splutter, add urad dal and chana dal. Sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add cumin seeds and chopped green chilies. Sauté for a minute.
Cook Vegetables:
- Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
- Add grated carrot and peas. Cook for a few minutes until the vegetables are tender.
Add Spices:
- Sprinkle turmeric powder and salt. Mix well.
Combine Semiya:
- Add 1 1/2 cups of Marathi Simpale Recipes water to the pan and bring it to a boil.
- Slowly add the roasted semiya, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- Reduce the heat, cover the pan, and let it cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the semiya is cooked and the water is absorbed.
Finishing Touches:
- Add sugar (if using) and lemon juice. Mix well.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Serve:
- Serve the semiya upma hot as a snack or breakfast.
