Masala Puri Recipe
Masala Puri is a popular and delicious Indian snack, often enjoyed as a chaat. It consists of spicy, crispy puris topped with a spicy and tangy potato English Simpal Recipes mixture. Here's a simple recipe to make Masala Puri at home:
Ingredients:
For the Puri:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
- 2 tablespoons semolina (rava)
- 1/2 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
- A pinch of baking soda
- Salt to taste
- Water (as needed)
- Oil (for deep frying)
For the Masala:
- 2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 small tomato, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon Hindi Simpal Recipes turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon chaat masala
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
- Tamarind chutney (optional)
- Yogurt (optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Puri Dough:
- In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, semolina, carom seeds, cumin seeds, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add water and knead to form a soft and smooth dough. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
2. Make the Puris:
- Divide the dough into small balls.
- Roll each ball into a thin circle using a rolling pin, dusting with a little flour to prevent sticking.
- Heat oil in a pan or deep fryer over medium heat.
- Carefully slide the Marathi Simpale Recipes rolled puris into the hot oil and fry until they are crispy and golden brown. Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
3. Prepare the Masala:
- Heat a little oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Once they start to splutter, add chopped onions and green chilies. Sauté until the onions are golden brown.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they are soft.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook for a few minutes until the spices are well combined.
- Add the mashed potatoes and mix well. Cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Sprinkle chaat masala and mix well. Turn off the heat and let the masala cool.
4. Assemble the Masala Puri:
- Place the crispy puris on a serving plate.
- Spoon the prepared masala mixture generously over each puri.
- Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves.
- Optionally, drizzle tamarind chutney and yogurt on top for extra flavor.
5. Serve: Serve the Masala Puri immediately to enjoy its crispy texture and spicy flavor. It makes for a great snack or appetizer.
