Garnish (Optional):

  • Sesame seeds
  • Sliced green onions

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken:

    • In a bowl, combine the cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
    • Coat the chicken pieces thoroughly with the cornstarch mixture.
  2. Fry the Chicken:

    • Heat oil in a frying pan or wok over medium-high heat.
    • Fry the chicken pieces in batches until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per batch.
    • Remove the chicken from the pan and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  3. Make the Orange Sauce:

    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
    • Pour the mixture into the same pan or wok used to fry the chicken.
    • Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat.
  4. Thicken the Sauce:

    • Once the sauce is simmering, add the cornstarch slurry (cornstarch mixed with water) to the pan.
    • Stir continuously until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Combine Chicken and Sauce:

    • Add the fried chicken pieces back into the pan with the thickened orange sauce.
    • Toss the chicken until it is well coated with the sauce.
    • Continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes to heat the chicken through.
  6. Serve:

    • Transfer the Orange Chicken to a serving dish.
    • Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired.
    • Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.

Enjoy your homemade Orange Chicken!
