Hotteok English Simpal Recipes

English Simpal Recipes

Ingredients:

- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast

- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- 1 tablespoon sugar

- 2/3 cup lukewarm water

- 1/2 cup brown sugar

- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

- 1/4 cup chopped dried fruit (optional)

- Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar. Gradually add the lukewarm English Simpal Recipes water while stirring until a dough forms.

2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.

3. While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by mixing together the brown sugar, chopped nuts, and dried fruit in a small bowl.

4. Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.

5. Flatten each dough ball with your palm and place about 1-2 tablespoons of the filling in the center. Pinch the edges together to seal the filling inside and reshape it into a ball.

6. Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat and add enough vegetable oil to coat the bottom.

7. Place the filled dough balls seam side down onto the skillet and flatten them slightly with a spatula. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.

8. Flip the hotteok over and flatten them slightly with the spatula. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the other side is golden brown and crispy.

9. Remove the hotteok from English Simpal Recipes the skillet and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.

10. Serve hotteok warm, either plain or with a drizzle of honey or syrup if desired.

Enjoy your homemade hotteok!
