Ingredients:
- 2 cups flattened rice (poha)
- 1/2 cup rice flour
- 1/2 cup besan (gram flour)
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Rinse the flattened rice (poha) thoroughly and drain the water. Allow it to dry for about 10 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, add the flattened rice, rice flour, besan, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually add water and knead the mixture into a soft dough.
- Take a portion of the dough and shape it into a cylindrical roll.
- Heat oil in a deep pan or kadai for frying.
- Using a chakli maker or a murukku press, make spiral-shaped chaklis directly into the hot oil.
- Fry the chaklis on medium heat until they turn golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fried chaklis from the oil and drain them on a kitchen towel to remove excess oil.
- Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
- Allow the chaklis to cool completely before storing them in an airtight container.
