- 4 ripe bananas
- 1 cup milk
- 2-3 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- A pinch of saffron strands (optional)
- Chopped nuts for garnishing (e.g., almonds, cashews)
Instructions:
- Peel the bananas and cut them into small pieces. Mash them well using a fork or a blender until you achieve a smooth consistency. Keep aside.
- In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat. Let it come to a gentle boil.
- Add the mashed bananas to the milk and mix well. Stir continuously to avoid lumps.
- Add sugar to the mixture and continue to stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Simmer the mixture for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking to the bottom of the pan.
- Add cardamom powder and saffron strands (if using) to the mixture and mix well.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the shikran thickens slightly. Keep in mind that it will thicken further upon cooling.
- Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature. You can also chill it in the refrigerator for a few hours if you prefer it cold.
- Garnish with chopped nuts of your choice, such as almonds or cashews.
- Serve Kelyache Shikran as a dessert or a sweet accompaniment to a meal.
