Sago Spicy Mixture



 Here's a recipe for Sago Spicy Mixture, a popular snack in South India:


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sago (sabudana)
  • 1/2 cup roasted peanuts
  • 1/4 cup roasted chana dal
  • 1/4 cup roasted urad dal
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Curry leaves, a few
  • Oil, for frying


Instructions:

  1. Rinse the sago in water a few times and then soak it in water for 3-4 hours, until it becomes soft and transparent.

  2. Drain the water completely and spread the sago on a kitchen towel to remove excess moisture.

  3. Heat oil in a pan and fry the sago until it turns crispy and golden brown. Drain and set aside.

  4. In the same oil, fry the curry leaves until they turn crispy. Drain and set aside.

  5. In a mixing bowl, combine the fried sago, roasted peanuts, roasted chana dal, roasted urad dal, chopped green chilies, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.

  6. Add the fried curry leaves to the mixture and give it a final mix.

  7. Serve the Sago Spicy Mixture as a snack or as an accompaniment with tea or coffee.
