Orange Rolls

Certainly! Here's a delicious recipe for orange rolls:

Ingredients:

For the rolls:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • Zest of 2 oranges

For the filling:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • Zest of 1 orange

For the glaze:

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • Juice of 2 oranges
  • Zest of 1 orange

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center.

  2. In a separate bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  3. Pour the yeast mixture into the well of the dry ingredients. Add the melted butter, eggs, and orange zest. Mix everything together until a dough forms.

  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment for this step.

  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.

  6. Punch down the dough to release the air. Roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.

  7. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the granulated sugar and orange zest over the butter.

  8. Starting from one long side, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal slices.

  9. Grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper. Place the slices in the prepared dish, leaving a little space between them.

  10. Cover the dish with a kitchen towel and let the rolls rise for another 30-45 minutes until they puff up.

  11. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until they turn golden brown.

  12. While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange zest until smooth.

  13. Once the rolls are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls.

  14. Serve the orange rolls while they are still warm. Enjoy!

These orange rolls are perfect for breakfast or brunch. The citrusy flavor adds a refreshing twist to the classic cinnamon roll. Enjoy baking and savoring these delicious treats!
