Here's a simple recipe for making jackfruit wafers:
Ingredients:
- 1 ripe jackfruit
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
1. Prepare the jackfruit: Cut the jackfruit into halves and remove the outer skin. Cut the jackfruit flesh into small, thin pieces or slices. Make sure to remove the seeds.
2. Heat oil for frying: In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Make sure there is enough oil to completely submerge the jackfruit slices.
3. Fry the jackfruit slices: Once the oil is hot, carefully add a few jackfruit slices at a time into the oil. Fry them until they turn golden brown and become crispy. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Make sure to flip them occasionally to ensure even cooking.
4. Drain and season: Once the jackfruit wafers are crispy and golden brown, remove them from the oil using a slotted spoon or tongs. Place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. While they are still hot, sprinkle some salt over the wafers to season them.
5. Repeat the process: Continue frying the remaining jackfruit slices in batches until you have cooked all the jackfruit.
6. Let them cool: Allow the jackfruit wafers to cool completely before serving. They will become even crispier as they cool down.
7. Serve and enjoy: Once the jackfruit wafers have cooled down, transfer them to a serving bowl or plate. They make a delicious and unique snack. Enjoy them on their own or serve them with your favorite dip or sauce.
Note: Jackfruit wafers are best consumed on the same day they are made for optimal crispiness.
