french fries

Sure! Here's a simple recipe for homemade French fries:

Ingredients:

  • 4 large potatoes
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt (to taste)

Instructions:

  • Start by peeling the potatoes and rinsing them under cold water to remove any excess starch. Pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
  • Cut the potatoes into evenly sized sticks or wedges, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. You can adjust the thickness according to your preference.
  • Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for about 30 minutes. This will help remove additional starch and make the fries crispier.
  • While the potatoes are soaking, heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or a deep fryer. You'll need enough oil to fully submerge the fries.
  • After 30 minutes, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a kitchen towel or paper towels. Make sure they are completely dry to prevent splattering when frying.
  • Carefully add a small batch of potatoes to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them in batches, if necessary. Cook the fries for about 3 to 4 minutes, or until they turn a light golden color.
  • Use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the fries from the oil and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil. Repeat this process with the remaining potatoes.
  • Once all the fries are cooked, increase the heat of the oil and fry them again in small batches for another 3 to 4 minutes, or until they turn a deep golden brown. This second fry ensures a crispy exterior.
  • Remove the fries from the oil and transfer them to the paper towel-lined plate. Sprinkle with salt while they are still hot and toss them gently to evenly coat the fries.
  • Serve the French fries immediately while they are hot and crispy. You can pair them with ketchup, mayonnaise, or any other dipping sauce of your choice.

Enjoy your homemade French fries!
