Dahi Vada


 Sure, here is a simple recipe for Dahi Vada:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Urad Dal (split black gram)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying
  • 2 cups thick curd (yogurt)
  • 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp tamarind chutney
  • 2 tbsp green chutney
  • Coriander leaves, chopped
  • Sev, for garnishing

Instructions:

  1. Soak urad dal in water for 4-5 hours or overnight.

  2. Drain the water and grind the urad dal into a smooth paste using a mixer grinder or a food processor. You may add a little water if required.

  3. Add salt to the batter and mix well.

  4. Heat oil in a kadhai or a deep frying pan on medium flame.

  5. Take a small portion of the batter and drop it into the hot oil. Similarly, prepare small vadas and deep fry until golden brown.

  6. Remove the vadas from the oil and drain them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.

  7. Take a bowl of water and soak the vadas in it for 10-15 minutes.

  8. After 10-15 minutes, gently squeeze out the excess water from the vadas.

  9. Beat the curd until smooth and add roasted cumin powder, red chilli powder, and salt to taste. Mix well.

  10. In a serving bowl, arrange the vadas and pour the curd mixture over them.

  11. Add tamarind chutney and green chutney over the curd and garnish with chopped coriander leaves and sev.

  12. Serve chilled.
