Corn Flour Pakora

Here's a simple recipe for Corn Flour Pakora:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup corn flour
  • 1/4 cup rice flour (optional, for added crispiness)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped spinach (optional)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (adjust according to your spice preference)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine corn flour, rice flour (if using), chopped onions, spinach, coriander leaves, ginger paste, garlic paste, green chili, cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well to ensure all the ingredients are evenly combined.
  • Gradually add water to the mixture and whisk until you get a smooth and thick batter. The batter should be thick enough to coat the vegetables.
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan or kadhai over medium heat.
  • Take spoonfuls of the batter and carefully drop them into the hot oil. Fry them in small batches to ensure even cooking.
  • Fry the pakoras until they turn golden brown and crispy. Make sure to flip them occasionally for even frying.
  • Once cooked, remove the pakoras from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining batter and vegetables.
  • Serve the corn flour pakoras hot with mint chutney, tamarind chutney, or ketchup.
These crispy and delicious corn flour pakoras are perfect as a tea-time snack or as an appetizer for parties and gatherings. Enjoy!
