Aloo Tikki



Sure! Here's a simple recipe for Aloo Tikki, a popular Indian snack:


Ingredients:

  • 4 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and peeled
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying


For the garnish:

  • Finely chopped onions
  • Chopped coriander leaves
  • Tamarind chutney
  • Mint chutney
  • Plain yogurt

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mash the boiled potatoes until there are no lumps. You can use a fork or a potato masher for this.

  2. Add the bread crumbs, chopped green chilies, ginger paste, cumin powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, chaat masala (if using), and salt to taste. Mix everything well until all the ingredients are combined.

  3. Take a small portion of the potato mixture and shape it into a round patty or tikki. Repeat the same with the remaining mixture.

  4. Heat oil in a pan or skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the tikkis into the pan. Cook them until they turn golden brown and crispy on one side, then flip them over and cook the other side as well. Make sure to cook them evenly on both sides.

  5. Once the tikkis are cooked, transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

  6. Serve the Aloo Tikki hot with your choice of garnishes. You can top them with finely chopped onions, coriander leaves, tamarind chutney, mint chutney, and a dollop of plain yogurt.

Aloo Tikki can be enjoyed as a standalone snack or can be used to make delicious chaat by adding chutneys, yogurt, sev, and other toppings of your choice. Enjoy!
