Materials:

1 medium chicken (whole, cleaned)

1/2 cup rice (washed and drained)

4-5 garlic cloves

4-5 pieces of grated ginger

4-5 raw dates (store-bought dry fruits) (optional)

1 medium onion (chopped)

2-3 green onions (chopped)

1-2 carrots (chopped)

Salt to taste

Black pepper powder to taste

8-10 cups of water

2-3 tbsp soy sauce (optional)

1 tbsp sesame oil (optional)

Few green coriander leaves (for garnishing)

Action:

Preparation of Chicken:

Wash and clean the chicken properly. After cleaning its interior, put rice, garlic cloves, ginger pieces, and raw dates inside. Close the chicken by tying the chicken legs together.

Cooking Process:

Boil water in a large pot. Place the chicken in the boiling water and let it boil. Then put the gas on medium flame and cook the chicken for 1.5 to 2 hours.

Preparation of Vegetables:

While the chicken is cooking, add the chopped onion, green onions, and carrot slices. Let the mixture cook for 30-40 minutes, until the chicken is fully cooked.

Taste Adjustment:

Season the soup with salt, black pepper powder, and soy sauce. Once this is cooked, the soup is ready.

Garnishing:

Add some sesame oil to the prepared soup and garnish with coriander.

Serving:

Serve the sum gye tang hot. Remove the chicken pieces with the soup and drink the soup.
