Samgyupsal is a popular Korean dish consisting of grilled pork belly served with various side dishes. Here's a simple recipe for making samgyupsal:

Ingredients:

  • 500g pork belly, thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lettuce leaves (for wrapping)
  • Ssamjang (Korean dipping sauce)
  • Kimchi (optional, for serving)
  • Sliced green onions (optional, for garnish)

    Instructions:
  1. In a bowl, mix together the minced garlic, soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Place the thinly sliced pork belly in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Make sure the pork is evenly coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to an hour in the refrigerator.
  3. Heat a grill pan or barbecue grill over medium-high heat.
  4. Once the grill is hot, place the marinated pork belly slices onto the grill. Cook each side for about 2-3 minutes, or until they are nicely browned and cooked through.
  5. Remove the cooked pork belly from the grill and transfer to a serving plate.
  6. To serve, place a piece of lettuce on your plate. Add a slice of grilled pork belly, a dollop of ssamjang, and any other desired side dishes such as kimchi.
  7. Wrap the pork belly and ssamjang in the lettuce leaf and enjoy!
