Gujarati Methi Thepla English Simpal Recipes

English Simpal Recipes 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole English Simpal Recipes wheat flour (atta)
  • 1/4 cup chickpea flour (besan)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh fenugreek leaves (methi)
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon green chili paste (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water, as needed
  • Oil or ghee for cooking

Instructions:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine Hindi Simpal Recipes whole wheat flour, chickpea flour, chopped fenugreek leaves, yogurt, oil, ginger paste, green chili paste, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • Knead the mixture into a soft dough. Add water little by little if needed to make a smooth and pliable dough.
  • Divide the dough into small lemon-sized balls.
  • Roll out each ball into a thin circle, using a rolling pin and a little dry flour for dusting if needed.
  • Heat a griddle or Marathi Simpale Recipe stawa over medium heat. Place a rolled out thepla on the hot griddle.
  • Cook until small bubbles start to appear on the surface, then flip it over.
  • Spread a little oil or ghee on the cooked side, then flip again and spread oil or ghee on the other side.
  • Cook until both sides are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.
  • Serve hot with yogurt, pickle, or any chutney of your choice.
