Aloo Paratha


 


Aloo Paratha is a popular Indian flatbread stuffed with spiced mashed potatoes. Here's a recipe to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Water as required
  • 3-4 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
  • Ghee or oil for cooking


Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, add wheat flour, salt, and oil. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add water to make a soft dough. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it's smooth and elastic. Cover the dough and let it rest for 20-30 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, add mashed potatoes, cumin seeds, coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masala, salt, and chopped coriander leaves. Mix well.
  4. Divide the dough into equal sized balls. Take one ball and flatten it into a small disc. Dust it with flour and roll it into a circle of about 4-5 inches in diameter.
  5. Place a spoonful of the potato filling in the center of the circle. Bring the edges of the dough together and seal the filling by pressing it down gently.
  6. Dust the stuffed dough with flour and roll it into a paratha of about 6-7 inches in diameter. Make sure the stuffing is evenly spread throughout the paratha.
  7. Heat a tawa or griddle over medium-high heat. Place the paratha on the tawa and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side.
  8. Spread ghee or oil over the paratha and cook for another minute until both sides are golden brown.
  9. Serve hot with yogurt, pickle, or any chutney of your choice.
